San Dieguito Art Guild Artists & San Diego Botanical Garden

Earlier this year, I discovered that the walls of the Ecke building at the San Diego Botanic Garden would be without a wall art display and as a Docent at the Garden, I offered to remedy that situation by pulling together a ‘pop-up’ show of sorts that featured fellow artist/members of San Dieguito Art Guild in Encinitas and their best botanic-themed wall art.

Twenty four members (including me, of course) entered 52 pieces. Luckily, I was able to recruit Laura Lowenstein, Toni Williams and Lisa Curry to help me curate the show which would run from February 11 - April 1, 2019. The show looked great and it was really interesting to be part of the curating process. Laura, Toni & Lisa have exhibited for years and really know how to put together a terrific show.

This exhibit was a wonderful chance to introduce our SDAG members to the Garden and beneficial for the Garden staff to get to know the talented artists of SDAG. Win/win!

My hope is that we can get on the schedule to do something like this again next year.
